Q: Is HE-20%™ safe for suckling calves?
A: Yes, suckling calves develop a rumen at an early age and can utilize urea in the amounts delivered in the minimal quantity of HE-20%TM they will consume. The small amounts of urea delivered from HE-20%TM to a young calf before their rumen is completely developed will not be harmful.

Q: Should HE-20%TM be fed to equine?
A: No, HE-20%TM contains urea. STABLE-LYX® is the supplement of choice for equine.

Q: Is urea utilized by cattle consuming forages?
A: Yes, rumen microbes that digest forages require ammonia for growth and fiber digestion. Urea is rapidly broken down to ammonia after it is consumed. Since HE-20%™ provides a small amount of supplement continuously, fiber-digesting bacteria can efficiently utilize urea. Rumen microbes must have energy to use urea. Therefore, cattle consuming high grain diets can utilize a larger quantity of urea than cattle consuming forages because the rate of digestion of grains is faster than forages. If the protein content of forage is inadequate to meet the protein requirement of rumen microorganisms, urea can enhance fiber digestion.

Q: Is HE-20%™ safe for sheep?
A: No, the copper level is toxic to sheep. SHEEP-LYX™ is recommended.
