 Mike and Dana Reese run a backrounding operation near Mountain View, Missouri. Mike buys lightweight calves around 300 pounds from Alabama and starts them on Brigade® barrels.

Mike uses the Iono-lyx® barrels along with a small amount of grain to keep the calves gaining weight while grazing his mostly-fescue pastures. He has been using Brigade® and Iono-lyx® products for nearly seven years. His brother-in-in-law in Alabama recommended that he give CRYSTALYX® products a try, and Mike has used them ever since.
Normally, Mike runs two groups of calves each year. He starts with Brigade® barrels and that play a key role in keeping his calves healthy. He has noticed that the cattle start to slick up better and look healthier. He adds Iono-lyx® barrels later to gain the added benefit of Bovatec® and improve weight gains. He feels that CRYSTALYX® products have been a big help in reducing the calves' pink eye problems. Mike said he puts the barrels out and the pink eye goes away.
The calves come to the Reese operation around 300 pounds, and are sold at 600 pounds when they are ready to go to the feedlot for finishing. Mike's calves bring top dollar at the local sale barn and he's pleased with how CRYSTALYX® products have worked for his operation.
