"I'm really pleased with it..."
FRANK GARCIA
Montrose, CO
Frank Garcia only started feeding CRYSTALYX® in January 1999, but he's already noticed an improvement in his Montrose, CO, herd. "We had real minimal trouble during calving. The cows cleaned really well after calving. And we had more vigor in the calves," he says.
He was pleasantly surprised when the CRYSTALYX® lived up to the promises his feed salesman made about it. "A salesman comes out and you don't know. You think he's just pushing this product. But CRYSTALYX® did about what they told me it would. I'm really pleased with it."
Garcia put the HE-20%™ out when the cows were turned into stalks for winter forage. He noticed the cows seemed to be more content in the stalks this winter. "They'd go lick the product, then go lay out in the stalks. They weren't up and down the fields like they usually are." He kept four, 250 pound barrels out for the 250 to 280 head herd, plus salt. Consumption was pretty close to a half pound per-head, per-day. When he's tried other blocks consumption has been as high as 1 to 1-1/4 pounds.
"I'll definitely use the CRYSTALYX® on the cows. This year I didn't start until after the first of the year. I'll probably start them on it a little earlier this fall."
