Quality and convenience. That's what Jerry Plett appreciates most about CRYSTALYX^®.

Before CRYSTALYX^® was available in his part of Kansas, Plett tried other protein supplement blocks. Without a local dealership, he was forced to order in large quantities, then pick the blocks up and store them until he was ready to use them. Now that his local co-op carries CRYSTALYX^®, Plett can swing by and pick up the number of CRYSTALYX^® barrels he needs and take them straight out to the pasture.

Plett runs 150 Hereford cows and calves both spring and fall. Both groups receive CRYSTALYX^® year-round, but he has found he prefers different products based on calving date.

For the fall calving cows, Plett uses CRYSTALYX^® HP-40™. With the added stress of nursing a calf through the winter when forage is lower quality and trying to rebreed the cows, he feels this group can use the extra protein in HP-40™. His spring calving cows are fed BGF-30™ because this group can take advantage of good spring grass to help meet their nutritional needs. In either situation, the cattle consume a consistent amount of CRYSTALYX^® - another plus in Plett's eyes.

Plett also really appreciates the metal barrels compared to paper or plastic tubs used to package other supplement blocks. He was amazed to see how well CRYSTALYX^® held up within the barrel even during a prolonged rainy period.
