Practical guidance for optimal herd performance

Placement

Place containers in areas that achieve desired supplement intake.

Relocation

Once acceptable intake levels have been achieved, the containers may be moved to underutilized pasture areas to improve grazing distribution and forage utilization.

Accessibility

A minimum of two containers in each lot or pasture may be necessary to promote consistent consumption. Containers should be placed in areas where sheep congregate, such as near watering locations or shaded areas.

Quantity

Use at the rate of one container per 30 to 50 head of sheep. Sheep will typically consume 28 to 113.5 grams per head daily, depending on weight of the animal, forage quality and forage availability.
